While the 2020 It’s A Wonderful Life Festival and It’s A Wonderful Run 5K could not be held in person due to the pandemic, we hope these memories of the past decade of events will raise your spirits in anticipation of being together again in Seneca Falls during Christmas season 2021. This special 90 minute video highlights some of the best memories of the first decade of Wonderful Runs. Merry Christmas!
“Life doesn’t have to be perfect, to be wonderful”-Annette Funicello
We have made the tough decision to go to a VIRTUAL FORMAT for the 2020 It’s A Wonderful Run 5K. There is nothing more we would love than to have our event in person and pretend like nothing has happened, but 2020 has other ideas for us.
When we started this event 12 years ago, we had three goals:
· Create an event that allowed people to spend time with friend and family and get them into the holiday spirit
· Create an event that would bring people to our lovely town to help our local economy
· And, most importantly, raise money for those in need
While we can’t host you here in our lovely town, you can still spend time with your family and friends, still get in the holiday spirit, and still raise money for local charities….in fact, charities need your support more than ever! Please register for this year’s event and help us continue to help those in need. Each registration will include our world famous race shirt that will be mailed to your home.
In addition, during registration you can choose to donate to our scholarship fund and/or any of the over 60 charities and organizations we helped last year. Please consider donating to one of our wonderful organizations what you may have spent on gas, lodging, or reindeer ears and angel wings.
We know there may be many questions. PLEASE BE PATIENT as we are new to this ourselves. We will certainly continue to post and update throughout the upcoming weeks. Thank you SO MUCH for all the love and support you’ve given us over the years. We know this isn’t ideal, however we are still compelled to focus on the good and continue to help those in need. We hope we can count on you this year as well!
The It’s A Wonderful Run 5K Committee made its first donation of the season to the Seneca County House of Concern. In the photo, Chelsea Korzeniewski, Tommy Rook and Will Korzeniewski present a check for $10,000 to executive director Olan Mack. The IAWR5K has given $85,000 to the House of Concern in the 10 years the race has been held in Seneca Falls.
Join Us on a 5K Run/Walk Through the Beautiful, Illuminated, Historic Village of Seneca Falls, NY at Dusk
A unique start to this USATF Certified 5K Course places the field atop the famous Bridge Street Bridge which many believe was the inspiration for the bridge scenes in the holiday movie classic ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’. The run/walk will take you past the decorated Christmas Tree display, the lighted storefronts and shops of downtown Seneca Falls, and past historic village homes decked out and lit-up for the holiday season. The course concludes in the shadow of the Bridge Street Bridge in People’s Park along the Seneca Falls Canal Harbor.
Make It A Weekend!
The IAWL 5K Run/Walk is held in conjunction with the “It’s A Wonderful Life” Festival held every year in Seneca Falls, NY. Join hundreds of other holiday revelers that will be traveling from all over the country to experience this Christmas season in beautiful Seneca Falls. For more information and full event schedule visit TheRealBedfordFalls.com and be sure to stop in and visit the It’s A Wonderful Life Museum when you are in town!
Congratulations to Our 2018 Scholarship Winners
Peyton Stevers, Darren Miller, Noah Howard and Gavin Doell each received a $2,000 scholarship at graduation ceremonies in June in Seneca Falls. The scholarship is given to a graduating Mynderse Academy student who will be attending college in the fall, maintains at least an 80 GPA, participates in at least two sports, and embodies the characteristics of George Bailey of leadership both on and off the field of play behind the scenes. The three scholarships are given from proceeds received from the December “It’s A Wonderful Run 5K”. Congratulations and good luck to Peyton, Darren, Noah & Gavin!
